Today I wanted to do something a little different.

I’ve been writing some longer pieces lately and I know not everyone has time to sit down and read them. So this week, no big article. Just 10 photos I took this morning of some of the residents, because sometimes you just need to look at some beautiful chickens. And for me, sitting with my feathered family members is one of the great joys of running a sanctuary. They are the moments that make all the hard bits feel so worthwhile.

This article is a little different, in that I am not reading the post. Instead, I chat a bit about each of the little ones in the photos and their stories. You can even listen to it sped up if you like. It’s completely optional, but if you want something for the background whilst you’re doing the dishes or feeding your own animals, it’s there. I’ll be doing this for the Sunday posts and reading longer articles going forward too, so if you are busy you can listen to me read the article.

A 3D printed treat feeder! Bonnie and Jolene love it! And Brad supervises like the gentleman he is.

This may not look like a great photo, but it is to me! I have found feathers in the bird bath but never caught the pigeons actually using it! Finally caught Robyn in the act with Quinn in the foreground.

Sage has been so happy lately. Her fowl pox and respiratory infection are all cleared up and she has been reunited with her sisters. Yay!
